No fewer than 12 persons, including children, sustained gunshot injuries in the clash.

The masquerade worshipers reportedly opened fire at the Muslims while performing a special prayer for Nigeria at  Kamorudeen Central Mosque, located at Oluode Aranyin in Osogbo around 2:30pm.

It was gathered that the masquerades had earlier staged a threatening walk before stoning the congregation. A Camry car and the windows of the mosque were also destroyed in the clash.

The Imam of the mosque, Kazeem Yunus, confirmed that the leader of the organisation in Iwo, Osun State, Moshood Salawudeen was shot in the head and gave up the ghost.
