Gov Fayemi Eyes Development In Rural Areas As He Appoints New Aide |The Source

The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has reiterated the commitment of his government to advance rural and community development.

He spoke on Tuesday in Ado Ekiti when the Board Chairman of the State Community and Social Development Agency, (EKCSDA), Chief Biodun Akin-Fasae, paid him a visit to brief him on the progress made on the NG-CARES project, which is billed to take off in May this year.

The Governor  said the promises of his Government to ensure rural and community development shall be met.
“For us as a government, rural development is a priority. We shall be building on what we did during my first tenure in office. I know that the flag off of the NG-CARES is May, and as a focal person in the design of the project, I can assure you that we would do everything possible within the available resources to support rural and community development.”

The Governor  praised EKCSDA for its excellent performance in the implementation of CSDP across the sixteen local government areas of the state, while promising the Agency  a better support to enable it implement the NG-CARES project in line with the project implementation objectives.

Earlier in his remarks, Chief Akin-Fasae told the governor that he was in his office to brief him on the preparedness of the Agency towards the implementation of the NG-CARES project and the readiness of his team to hit the ground running once the project starts in May.

Chief Fasae who was accompanied by top officials of the agency, thanked the governor for his support towards the Agency during the implementation of the CSDP, promising that the Agency would do even better under the NG-CARES project.

In another development, Governor Fayemi has approved the appointment of Mr Akin Rotimi as Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy.

Rotimi takes over from Mrs Sola Salako-Ajulo, who resigned recently to take up an appointment as a member of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal, (representing the Southwest).

A renowned Communications Strategist, Rotimi had earlier served as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Strategic Communications during Governor Fayemi’s first term in office and was Special Adviser (Investment Promotions) to the Honourable Minister of Mines and Steel Development between 2015 and 2018.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Akin Oyebode stated that the appointment took effect from February 1, 2021.
