The presidency has clarified that President Bola Tinubu has not replaced his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
It added that the insinuations that the Chief of Staff to President Tinubu, Gbajabiamila, has been replaced by Hakeem Muri-Okunola, Principal Private Secretary is untrue.
In a statement on Thursday, the Presidential Spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, said “a viral falsehood circulating on social media suggesting that President Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, with his Principal Private Secretary, Hakeem Muri-Okunola” is false.
“There is absolutely no truth to this story. We advise Nigerians to disregard it entirely,” he explained.
“The Chief of Staff remains in his position. The Principal Private Secretary likewise remains in his role. Hakeem Muri-Okunola has not replaced Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff.
“The viral claim is a fabrication by mischievous purveyors of fake news whose sole aim is to create disharmony within the government.
“We reiterate that news media should always verify their information before publishing or sharing on social media,” he added.
The viral report has claimed that Gbajabiamila has fallen out with President Tinubu and hence his replacement.
Gbajabiamila, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, became the President’s Chief of Staff in assumption of office and has been described as one of the cabals in the presidency.
