Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has hailed the party’s victory in Imo and Kogi states.
Hope Uzodinma and Usman Ododo, the APC governorship candidates in Imo and Kogi have been declared winners of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in the keenly contested election which took place on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
Reacting to his party’s victory, Ganduje said it’s a testimony that APC has transformed the two states, and has touched the lives of the people.
He also appreciated the people of the two states for the overwhelming support they gave the APC during the election.
According to a statement released on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, the APC chairman stated that the victory has reinforced the trust Nigerians have in the ruling party.
The APC boss said the people of the states have voted for continuity, stressing that the party will not disappoint Nigerians for making it their choice.
He also urged the opposition to join hands with the winners in order to move the state forward, adding that no victor no vanquished.
Ganduje said“As a progressive party, we will always live up to our promises to deliver good governance. The people of Imo and Kogi states can be rest assured that Uzodimma would sustain his developmental strides in the state while Ododo would consolidate the enviable legacies of Governor Yahaya Bello.
“You are true democrats. The truth is that we are all winners at the end of the day. Without a viable opposition, there won’t be contestations and democracy.
I urge you to join hands with Governor Hope Uzodimma and the incoming governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, in the task of moving your respective states forward.
“You all fought a good battle. As the saying goes, there will always going to be another chance to test your level of acceptability among the electorate.”
Meanwhile, collation is currently ongoing in the governorship election in Bayelsa state. The electoral umpire is expected to declare the winner on Monday.
