Foremost Trade Unionist and former General Secretary of the National Union of Petroleum, Energy and Gas (NUPENG, Chief Frank Kokori is dead.
The trade unionist died at 1:30 am Thursday, December 7, 2023.The passage of the octogenarian was made public about 2:30 am by his Personal Assistant, Atawada Barry Oke.
He said the former labour leader’s health relapsed on Monday as he was unable to interract with people around him while he was placed on life support.
Kokori’s death came barely one month after he cried out from his hospital bed on Thursday, November 9, 2023, that he had been neglected and abandoned to die in spite of his huge contribution to the democratic growth of the country.
After leading a vibrant pro-democracy struggle for the revalidation of the annulled June 12, 1993 Presidential election, Kokori later retired into a quiet life until recently when he reportedly took ill. He was diagnosed with kidney ailment.
But his luminous era as a Trade Unionist and his years in retirement have come to an end with his passing on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at the age of 80. His passing coincided with his birthday.
