A former First Lady of Anambra State, Njideka, has died. She was the wife of former Anambra State Governor and Ohanaeze chieftain, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife.
Mrs Ezeife’s death in the United States of America took family members by surprise. The illness that took her life was sudden and brief- barely 24 hours.
Family sources said she was billed to return to Nigeria on December 13, 2021, but took ill suddenly on the 12th, and so, could not make it. They were shocked when she died within 24 hours.
In a statement announcing her death, the Secretary to the Igbo Elders’ Council, Professor Charles Nwokeaku said: “With great pains and total submission to the will of God, I write to inform our distinguished Igbo Elders of the transition to the great beyond of Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs) Njideka Ezeife, the former First Lady of Anambra State, and wife of our Chairman, Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife after a brief illness in the United States of America.
“Mrs Ezeife who was scheduled to return to Nigeria on December 13, 2021, suddenly became sick a day to her trip, and couldn’t make it.”
