Food Security: Dep. Senate President Distributes 69 Trucks Of Fertilizer To  Kano Farmers

In a bold move to halt the ravaging hunger sweeping across the country, through the  encouragement of farming, the Deputy Senate President Jibril Barau has flagged off the distribution of 69 trucks of fertilizer products to Kano farmers.

The distribution of the total number of 41,400 bags of the essential farm input was flagged off on Tuesday, July 16, in Dambatta and Makoda Local Councils of the State all in Kano North Senatorial Zone.

Senator Barau who had, a month ago, distributed over 100 commercial buses on a highly subsidized rate to ease transportation, hails from the District.

A statement issued by his Media aide, Ismail Mudashir, on Wednesday, July, 17 2024, in Kano, however, said the fertilizer will be distributed to farmers across all the 44 local councils of Kano state .

The Deputy Senate President noted that the gesture is his modest effort at increasing farm outputs, and contribute to the ongoing moves to end scarcity of food items in the country.

At the flag off ceremony, representative of the Deputy Senate president, his Chief of Staff ,Prof, Muhammad Ibn Abdallah, gave 2,804 and 1,910 bags each to Dambatta and Makoda local councils respectively.

The gesture, according to the statement, represents the first of its kind in the annals of the State.

Barau urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the fertilizer, with a view to enhancing agricultural outputs.

The fertilizer distribution is one of the numerous interventionist polices of the Deputy Senate President, particularly, in Kano North and, the State generally towards growth and development in all sectors .

He expressed the optimism that the gesture will improve agricultural activities,as well as contribute to the attainment of food security in the country .

“In the name of Allah, I flag off the distribution of fertilizer on behalf of the Deputy Senate president. The exercise will continue until we distribute 41,400 bags of fertilizer across the 44 LGAs of Kano state” Prof Abdallah stated

Speaking on behalf of the people of Dambatta Local Council, Alhaji,Dan Bayero appreciated the Deputy Senate President for his unflinching support,to the people.

He described him as the people’s Senator who the people of Kano North are internally grateful to God to have him as our Senator.

“We are lucky to have him; he is a great leader who caters for the needs of his people . He has nothing else at heart , other than the people of Kano North and Kano state”, Bayero stated.
