Fight Against Corruption: ICPC, Partner States Attorneys General And Commissioners Of Justice

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission ICPC, has expressed its firm commitment to partner with the body of 36 State Attorneys  General and Commissioners of Justice to upscale the fight against corruption in the country.

This is just as Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu,Chairman of the anti-corruption agency has underscored the imperativeness of the   collaborative efforts, noting that State Attorneys-General are critical stakeholders in the quest  to curtail corrupt tendencies in Nigeria.

In a statement issued and made available to the Media in  Kano on Tuesday June 4, by the Acting Director ,Public Enlightenment and Education, Demola Bakare ,noted that the two bodies made the commitment to work together, during a courtesy visit to the Commission Headquarters, by the body of States Chief Law officers .

Dr Aliyu who, until his appointment as the Head of the anti graft agency ,was the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice Jigawa state , signaled the  readiness of the ICPC to enter into  a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the States’ Commissioners of Justice, insisting that it represents a veritable means of effectively tackling the menace of corruption.

The ICPC Chairman pledged to provide all the necessary support for a working partnership with  the States’ Attorneys General .

” I want to assure you that what ever support the body wants from the ICPC, we are willing to give to you. We need you and, I hope we are going to work together” Dr Aliyu stated.

Chairman of the body ,Dr Ben Odoh, earlier in his address, while felicitating with ICPC Chairman on his appointment, however, described  it as merited  going by his  impeccable trajectory .

Dr Odoh, promised that the body of states’ Chief Law Officer will not only  work with the Commission but ,will also serve as its representatives at the State level.

Dr Odoh who is also the Edo state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice said the visit was to pledge their availability  for  serve through collaboration and to also assure the Commission  chairman of their willingness to partner with him to lift the nation from the abyss of corruption.
