The Federation International Football Association, FIFA, in its December, 2019, ranking put the Super Eagles of Nigeria as the 31st in the world.
The national team garnered 1692 points to place the third best team in Africa behind Senegal and Tunisia who were placed first and second best in Africa.
The Coach Gernot Rohr Super Eagles has been dilly-dallying in the FIFA Ranking during the year, and moved up the ladder from 42nd position in the beginning of the year, to end the year in the 31st position.
During the 2019 African Cup of Nations Championship in Egypt, the Super Eagles ended the campaign with a third place finish having missed out in two previous edition of the African showpiece.
In the year under review, the Super Eagles recorded 100 percent in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers, defeating Squirrels of Benin Republic in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State and the Crocodiles of Lesotho in Maseru, winning 2-1 and 4-2 respectively.
The team played series of friendly matches in 2019, with former world champions, Brazil, playing a 1-1 draw in Singapore; 2-2 draw with Ukraine in Kyiv; defeated the Pharaohs of Egypt 1-0 at the Stephen Okechukwu Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State.
