The Federal Government has approved the promotion of 20,000 paramilitary officers during this year’s exercise.
Those that benefitted from the exercise cut across the Civil Defence, Correctional centres, Fire and Immigration services board.
In a statement at the weekend, the minister of the interior, who doubles as chairman of the promotion board, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, confirmed the promotion exercise.
The minister explained that the exercise was meant to eliminate career stagnation in paramilitary agencies.
The statement added that “The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Chaired by Hon Olubunmi Tunji Ojo, as the Minister of Interior, held its 5th meeting today, and approved the promotion of over 20,000 officers for 2024.
“This marks the second consecutive year that the Board has completed a promotion exercise within a calendar year, following the promotion of over 30,000 officers in 2023.
“This is walking the talk of our promise to eliminate career stagnation in our paramilitary agencies, and demonstrating our dedication to recognizing and rewarding excellence.”
