According to family sources, he gave up at his residence in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Wednesday night, at the age of 94.

According to family sources, he gave up at his residence in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Wednesday night, at the age of 94.
His death was confirmed by his first son, Hon. Justice Obafemi Fasanmi, on behalf of the family.
A statement by the Osun State Government described his death as a great loss to the country.
An indigene of Iye Ekiti in Ilejemeje local government of Ekiti state, Pa Ayo Fasanmi served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Old Western Nigeria Housing Corporation.
He was National President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria in 1977, and became a member of the House of the National Assembly in 1983.
At the inception of civilian rule in 1979, late Fasanmi contested in the Governorship primary election of the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria, (UPN) and lost to late Pa Michael Ajasin.
He also served in the National Constitutional Conference Commission in 1994, as a member.
Late Fasanmi, an ally of national leader of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, had been in the forefront of “Tinubu for President in 2023.”
