#EndSARS Protest: Ekiti Police Command Withdraws Services From Ikere |The Source

The Ekiti state police command has withdrawn its officers and men from the Ikere community, a subsequent of the monumental destruction of Police Stations in the Community during the #EndSARS protest.

This has led to the closure of banks and other establishments that engage in commercial businesses in the community as a result of insecurity occasioned by the withdrawal.

Even civil servants and local government workers in the community now travel to the state capital before they could draw their salaries.

saying the three stations in the town had been set ablaze while operational vehicles and other vehicles parked in the premises were vandalised.

According to him, residents of Ikere Ekiti had been told to call the police hotlines anytime they need their services, especially during robbery.

In his reaction, the Ogoga of Ikere Ekiti, Oba Adejimi Adu said withdrawal of services by the police was not a good development for the town.

Oba Adu noted that the development may expose people of the town to criminal activities, while calling for the reinstement of the officers and men of the division.

Addressing the community at a town hall meeting, the Monarch condemned the destruction of the police stations, which has led to a rise in crime rate in the town.

He called for the prosecution of those linked to the incident while appealing to the state police command to rescind it’s decision to recall its officers.
