Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has come under strong criticism from different quarters, especially from popular activist, Deji Adeyanju, the Convener of Concerned Nigerians and popular Disc Jockey, Catherine Udeh, also known as DJ Switch, following the report of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Restitution for Victims of the Special Anti Robbery Squad.
The Justice Doris Okuwobi-led Panel stated that nine Protesters were killed, Four missing, and now presumed dead, with tens of people injured, contradicting the claims the Minister of Information who had earlier stated that the Instagram Live Video of DJ Switch was doctored and that no life was lost as claimed.
Reacting to the report by the Lagos State Judicial Panel, DJ Switch said she has been vindicated by the report of the sad incident which took place at the Lekki toll plaza the night soldiers stormed there to disperse #EndSARS protesters on October 20, 2020.
Taking to her verified Twitter page, DJ Switch wrote, “Shattered so many lives, tried to destroy mine. Only for what you desperately tried to hide to be made public… by you! The truth needs no defence! #EndSARS.”
The DJ gained more prominence last year when she took to her Instagram page to do a live coverage that showed protesters being shot at by personnel of the Nigerian Army at the Lekki Toll Gate.
Slamming Mohammed, Adeyanju said the Minister should bury his head in shame, having consistently denied reports of killing at Lekki tollgate on October 20, 2020.
Recall that the Federal Government through the Minister had consistently denied reports of a massacre at the toll gate.
Mohammed had described the claim by Amnesty International that no fewer than 12 protesters were killed at the toll gate by security operatives during the #EndSARS protest as a “massacre without bodies”.
He had also threatened to sue Cable News Network (CNN), Nigerian Disc Jockey, DJ Switch, and other Media houses that said soldiers shot at peaceful protesters.
In a tweet via his Twitter handle, Adeyanju slammed Lai Mohammed and supporters of the President for lying to Nigerians that no protester was killed at the Lekki tollgate.
He wrote: “NEWS: 11 peace protesters killed, 4 missing & now presumed dead. -Lagos #EndSARS Report.
”Now that the Panel set up by the Govt has listed the peaceful protesters killed by the Army at Lekki Tollgate, may God judge Lai Mohd and all Buharists who lied that nobody was killed there.”
