Former Governor of Kaduna State, and a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Nasir El-Rufai, has been summoned by the Kaduna State Police Command to appear for questioning.
Invited along with El-Rufai are seven other members of the ADC. They are: Bashir Sa’idu, Jafar Sani, Ubaidullah Mohammed (popular as 30), Nasiru Maikano, Aminu Abita, and Ahmed Rufa’i Hussaini (aka Mikiya).
El-Rufai and the seven, according to the Police invitation letter, are being invited for questioning for alleged criminal conspiracy, incitement of public disturbance, mischief, and causing public hurt.
Dated September 4, 2025, and signed by Uzaini Abdullahi, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, the letter directed the ADC State Chairman to produce El-Rufai and the others at the State Criminal Investigation Department SCID, on September 8.
Titled “Investigation Activities: Case of Criminal Conspiracy, Inciting Disturbance of Public Peace, Mischief and Causing Grievous Hurt”, the letter informed that the invitation was to enable the individuals clarify allegations leveled and reported against them.
In another development, the ADC Office on No 4 Akilu Road, Kaduna, was sealed on Wednesday just before the arrival of the ADC North-west Leaders scheduled to visit the Kaduna State CHAPTER of the Party, Wednesday, to commiserate with members.
The Police deployed a number of Police patrol vehicles around the premises to block every access to the ADC office.
The visit was meant to commiserate with members of the Party who sustained injuries when political thugs attacked a meeting of the Social Democratic Party, SDP and ADC a few days ago.
El-Rufai, until a couple of months ago, was a chieftain of the APC. But the relationship between him and President Bola Tinubu became so very untidy that El-Rufai turned a strong critic of both the APC and the President.
He later dumped the APC for the SDP. He was later to join a coalition of prominent opposition members across political parties under the ADC. Their bid is to stop President Tinubu from getting a second term in office. El-Rufai is very optimistic on that.
