Ekiti: Soldiers Arrest Suspected Thugs As PDP Holds Primary Election

Five buses loaded with armed men, suspected to be thugs, have been apprehended by Military personnel at Ekiti/ Osun state border town of Itawure.

It was gathered that the buses were coming to Ekiti from Ibadan before their arrest by Soldiers at about 3am on Wednesday at Ita Awure/Efon Junction.

They were, allegedly, going to invade Ekiti to stalemate the PDP Primary Election, ongoing at Ado Ekiti, to prevent the emergence of a candidate for the 2022 governorship election.

Ekiti State Police Command confirmed the arrest of one hundred and five suspected thugs in the State.

Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Abutu, explained that the suspects were apprehended by Soldiers on guard at Ita-wure area of Ekiti state.

He said the suspects were arrested with various dangerous weapons such as cutlasses, guns and charms.

Abutu confirmed that the suspects are still with the Military, but would be prosecuted as soon as they are handed over to the police.
