Each of the 3,121 Kano State pilgrims now in the Holy Land has been gifted the sum of 100 Saudi Riyals in the spirit of the ongoing Eid-El-Kabir celebrations by the Kano State Government.
The latest gesture comes on the heels of N500,000 earlier given to the pilgrims to subsidize payments for their 2024 Hajj packages..
This is in addition to the sum of N150,000 the State Government gave out to supplement their Basic Traveling Allowance BTA before their departure for the pilgrimage proper.
In a statement issued by Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, the Head of Media Team for the 2024 Kano State Pilgrims, on Monday June 17 2024 said , the State Deputy Governor Comrade Abdulsalami Gwarzo announced the latest gesture during his visit to the Kano Pilgrims Camp in Mina Saudi Arabia.
The statement also stated that each of the Pilgrims also benefited fifty Saudi Riyals from philanthropist, and wwner of Sahad Stores Alhaji Mijinyawa.
The Kano State Deputy Governor who is the Amirul Hajj of the State Pilgrims asked the Pilgrims to while praying for themselves, their loved ones, remember to pray for the state and Nigeria as a whole.
Comrade Gwarzo according to the statement equally visited the tents of all the 44 local councils of the State.
He was accompanied on the visit by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Jibril Falgore, members of the legislative body on pilgrimage, Head of Service, Yusuf Lawal, Director General of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board Lamin Rabiu and host of other Government officials.
Meanwhile, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Monday flagged off the construction of an 85 km rural road networks and a bridge valued at N21 billion .
At the inauguration ceremony which had in attendance the Presidential Candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP in the 2023 elections Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the Kano State Governor, said the projects are to be completed between the next 18 and 24 months .
A statement by his spokesperson Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa noted that the vision for the audacious rural oriented projects goes beyond the quest to bridge Urban-Rural divides ,but also to cultivate sustainable economic pathways.
“These projects are poised to redefine rural landscapes and enhance the livelihood of the populace.
“The epicenter of this transformative initiative includes a 70km expanse from Bridge Madobi to Madobi town ,spanning through Yako to Kaffin Mai Yaki, terminating in Kiru, underscoring the commitment to bolster transportation infrastructure crucial for agricultural and economic growth in rural parts of Kano .
“Additionally, a second project featuring a 15km road and a 200 metre bridge from Madobi town to Kubarachi and Kura showcases the Governor Yusuf’s profound dedication to catalyzing progress across the semi urban and rural areas”, the statement further noted.
