The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has Immortalised its slain Staff, Aminu Sahabi Salisu, ASE 1. Salisu was killed in Awka, Anambra State, recently, while on official duty.
Along with his colleagues, he had gone on operations to arrest some alleged cyber crime suspects, known as yahoo-yahoo, when one of the suspects, inexplicably, opened fire on the Operatives. Salisu was fatally shot, and another, critically injured.
At the EFCC’s Annual Rewards and Recognition Ceremony, the Commission’s Chairman, Ola Olukayode, announced the naming of its Administrative Block at its Academy in Karu, after Salisu.
EFCC Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, who disclosed this in a statement, said the naming was to honour and immortalise Salisu who paid the Supreme price while serving his Nation.
He said: “We are saddened by the loss of our officer while on official assignment. He was a gallant officer, and to this effect, the Administrative Block of the Academy is hereby named after him.”
During the ceremony, 36 Officers of the Commission, in different categories were rewarded and 900 staff members promoted. The icing on the cake was the reinstatement of life and property insurance for Staff.
While congratulating the Officers – award winners and those promoted – the Chairman emphasized that the internal cleansing to weed out bad eggs in the Commission would continue aggressively, and warned that nobody will be spared once found culpable.
