The Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Idris was arrested at the Kano Airport, in the evening of Monday, May 16, 2022.
According to Premium Times, he has been flown to Abuja where he will be interrogated.
Reportedly, he was arrested for alleged money laundering and diversion of public funds.
Idris is said to have been under the scrutiny of the EFCC, but had refused to honour the Commission’s invitation extended to him on a couple of times.
Money involved is about N80 billion, allegedly laundered through family members and associates.
The EFCC is yet to confirm the arrest.
