The National Working Committee, NWC, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has appointed Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, as the Chairman of the Edo State Primary Election Committee. The NWC, also appointed Prof Mustapha Bello as the Chairman of the Primary Election Appeal.

The announcement was made in Abuja on Wednesday, at the Party’s National Secretariat, by the National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu.

Issa-Onilu, also, reconfirmed the appointment of former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, as the Acting National Chairman of the party.

A three-man panel of an Appeal Court, sitting in Abuja,  had, on Tuesday, upheld the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as the APC National Chairman, and stripped him of all privileges due to his office.

In keeping to the APC constitution, the party had asked Ajimobi, Deputy National Chairman, South, to step in. But, within an hour, Victor Giadom announced himself to the office, citing a Court Judgement. On Wednesday, he stormed the APC H/Q, and took over the office.

But on Wednesday, the NWC dismissed Giadom as an impostor, and moved him out of the office.

However, in the absence of Ajimobi, who is in a Lagos hospital, battling COVID-19, the NWC appointed the National Vice Chairman, South- South, Prince Hilliard Etta, to act on his behalf.

The Edo Primary is scheduled for Monday, June 22, while the appeals are scheduled for Wednesday, June 24.
