The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Monday Okpebholo-led administration of  lacking in direction.

“The government has stalled governance, and erased progress made by the Godwin Obaseki-led administration in land administration and reforms, civil service reforms, urban renewal projects, the drive to open Edo State to more private investors to spur economic growth and progress.

The newly elected publicity secretary of the party, Dan Osa-Ogbegie, made the remark at his inaugural meeting with members of the press at the state secretariat in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

According to the PDP scribe, “the mandate stolen from the people in 2024 remains a moral wound, but the PDP will focus on rebuilding trust and preparing for 2027.”

He called on Governor Okpebholo, to adopt the Security pattern left behind by the immediate past Governor Obaseki to mitigate the spate of kidnapping and other security challenges presently confronting the state.

Ogbegie, who pointed out that governance was continual, counseled Governor Okpebholo to improve on the security situation and other policies he inherited from Obaseki.

He noted that Edo people will be victims of such policy sumasualts as is presently being experienced in the wave of insecurity in the state with the abandonment of the security structure he met on assumption of office.

“Edo is in a dangerous season of governance by propaganda and incompetence under the APC.

“The PDP will not just be criticising, but proposing alternative policies rooted in the Constitution, justice, and the people’s welfare.

“I appeal for objectivity and courage in reporting Edo’s realities. Do not let fear or favour compromise your professional ethics.

“The press must tell Edo people the truth, not sponsored narratives. The PDP respects freedom of the press and will defend it whenever threatened.

“Our responsibility as Edo people is clear — to rescue truth from propaganda, competence from mediocrity, and hope from the ashes of bad governance. Together with the media, we will do just that”, he concluded
