Drama continues to unfold in the planned impeachment of Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu. Two members of the investigative panel set up by the Chief Judge of the State to investigate the allegations against Shaibu have turned down the offer.
The State House of Assembly had directed the Chief Judge to constitute a panel to investigate allegations against the embattled Deputy Governor.
The Deputy Governor, on his part, is making efforts to seek a Court injunction to restrain parties in the impeachment.
The two members of the Investigation Panel raised by CJ, The Honourable Justice Daniel Iyobosa Okungbowa, who declined their appointments are Prof Violet Aigbokhaevbo and Prof Boniface Onomion Edegbai.
Both Professors have, however, been replaced with Barrister President Aigbokhian and Barrister Mariam Erakhoba Ilevbare.
The latest development is contained in a release on Monday signed by the Chief Registrar of the High Court, Benin City, B.O. Osawaru.
Edo State chapter of the Conference of Registered Political Party (CRPP) had urged members of the impeachment panel set up by Justice Daniel Okungbowa to investigate the allegations levelled against Shaibu, to decline the offer.
