The mask has now been removed, the embattled governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki now knows that his major opponent in the December governorship election is Osagie Ize Iyamo, a former PDP chieftain who decamped to the ruling APC last year .
Iyamu, a one-time governorship candidate of the PDP in the state, said yesterday that he will be contesting the APC governorship primaries slated for September 16 later this year.
The pastor turned politician stated this when a group, Safe Edo Movement (SEM), met him to invite him to contest for the governorship of the state.
“I want to with humility and all sense of responsibility, accept the call that you have made,” Iyamu said during the meeting to enlist him into the race.
He had earlier informed the members of the group that he’s in the guber race to turn around the fortunes of the state, following the woeful performance and failure of incumbent Governor Obaseki.
The governorship aspirant is a major supporter of APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, in the ongoing battle for the soul of the state between him and Governor Obaseki, who he helped to become governor four years ago.
In the race to unseat Governor Obaseki, the aspirant said he will not be deterred by any plan to intimidate him and his supporters.
According to him “we will not be afraid of those who think they can intimidate us.
