The Department of State Services, DSS, has debunked the story which suddenly made the rounds on Social Media, Monday, January 16, 2023, that its operatives invaded the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and cordoned off the office of the Governor, Godwin Emefiele, in a bid to arrest him.

The story about the DSS and  Emefiele has been on the front burner for about two weeks.

However, the DSS in a terse statement signed by its Spokesperson, Dr Peter Afunanya, debunked the alleged invasion, and said it neither invaded the CBN, nor arrested its Governor.

Afunanya’s statement reads:

“The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to the false news making the round that its operatives invaded the Central Bank of Nigeria and arrested its Governor, today 16/1/23. This is fake news and quite misleading.”
