A former Commissioner in the Cabinet of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Raphael Otuekong Bassey, has passed on.
Hon. Bassey, the immediate past Commissioner for Housing under Governor Umo Eno, reportedly, passed on Saturday after he vomited blood. When he began to vomit, he was rushed to a hospital where he eventually passed.
The immediate cause of his passing is not known yet, but reports said he had not been in very strong health even while he was a Commissioner.
He lost his job in a Cabinet reshuffle by the Governor.
A native of Nsit Atai Local Government, he was an accomplished political leader who had held a number of positions.
The late Bassey was a former Chairman of Nsit Atai LGA. He was, also, a member of the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, and had, long before then, served as a Supervisor.
Left to mourn him, among others, are his wife and two children.
