Deputy Senate President’s Aide Rejects Ondo Gov Aiyedatiwa’s Appointment As Special Assistant

A former Chairman of Irele Local Government in Ondo State, Nicholas Akinbiola, has rejected his appointment as Special Assistant to the Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Akinbiola’s name was among new set of over 300 Senior Special Assistants, (SSA) and Special Assistants, (SA) announced on Saturday by Governor Aiyedatiwa.

It is yet to be confirmed if the Governor was ignorant of Akinbiola’s current position in the office of the Senate President.

Akinbiola is currently a Senior Special Assistant to the Deputy Senate President in the office of the Senate President.

Akinbiola, while declining the appointment in a letter addressed to the Governor on Saturday and personally signed by him, pledged his loyalty and commitment to the success of the All Progressives Congress at all levels.

The letter reads:

“I express my sincere appreciation to Your Excellency for the honour of being appointed as Special Assistant in your administration.

“I am indeed grateful for this honour and recognition bestowed on me among many party faithful. It is a privilege to serve the good people of Ondo State.

“However, I respectfully decline this offer due to my current appointment as Senior Special Assistant to the Deputy Senate President, Office of the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at the instance of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, PhD, CFR.

“I remain loyal and committed to the success of APC Government at all levels and your victory in the forthcoming Gubernatorial election in Ondo State.”
