Afrobeat crooner, David Adeleke, Popular as Davido, has officially been appointed by World Recording Academy, Grammy, as a voting member. This has increased his influence on the global music stage ahead of the 2026 GRAMMY Awards.
By becoming a voting member, the Nigerian hitmaker will participate in the GRAMMYs’ decision-making process, and add his voice to the community of music professionals who shape the industry’s most prestigious awards.
With this appointment, Davido has added another milestone to his Musical career.
Commenting on his appointment, the ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ crooner said: “Understanding the importance of how our voices are heard, I am participating in the GRAMMY Award process.
“It is a gamechanger. I have learned that voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on in each season. I am honoured to be part of the Recording Academy community and I look forward to voting”, he stated.
The “Feel” crooner, who got three nominations at the 2024 GRAMMYs, joins a growing number of African artists gaining recognition and representation within the Academy.
His inclusion also highlights the Recording Academy’s push to broaden its membership and reflect the diversity of the global music industry.
A native of Ede, Osun State, the Musician, a Nigerian-American, is yet to win the coveted Grammy Award, but he has said he is not resting on his oars in achieving the feat.
