Ikem Ohia, the Association’s spokesman made the position of the marketers known on Wednesday while featuring on Channels Television Morning Brief.

According to him, DAPPMAN has no issues with Dangote Refinery being a dominant player in the sector, but that members want assurance that they will get regular product  supply from the refinery at affordable price, saying the problem of fuel scarcity will be totally eliminated if the owner of the $20 billion Lagos refinery can work together with the Association in the area of fuel distribution, by making use of their  network of depots in Lagos, Warri, Port Harcourt and Calabar.

He said, “Our key interest is to have petroleum products offered at reasonable prices consistently, in a way that there’s no stock-out and Nigerians no longer queue for fuel,

“The question is: at what price does he offer us, and do we actually have access to purchase these products from him?

“What we are asking Dangote to do is to use these depots that are already in existence for us to meet the demands of Nigerians.”

Recall that Dangote and DAPPMAN clashed recently after the former purchased over 4000 CNG-powered trucks for the distribution of its petroleum products across the country.

Critics accused the depot owners of forcing Dangote to invest in the trucks, after the marketers tried to frustrate the company by not purchasing product from it.

Dangote had last year lamented that the marketers were importing fuel, instead of buying from him. Their action, he said, left over 500 million liters of unsold stock in its tanks.
