Africa’s leading cement producer, Dangote Cement Plc has presented 82 Shacman brand new trucks to its distributors to help them in prompt product collection and delivery to other retailers.
Shacman trucks are produced by the Anambra Motor Manufacturing Company, ANAMMCO, Enugu, and a partnership with the Dangote Group has seen the auto firm supplied no fewer than 350 trucks to the group to assist its haulage and distribution services.
Each of the trucks costs over N18 million
According to a statement from the company, the truck presentation held at the Enugu assembly plant of the Shacman Truck and was preceded by special training session held for the drivers of the trucks.
Funmi Sanni, Dangote Cement Marketing Director, said the trucks were presented under their Truck Empowerment Scheme, where distributors pay for the trucks on a 50-month instalment basis.
The event which was held at the Enugu assembly plant started with training by Shacman Nigeria where drivers, supervisors and managers of the distributor companies were in attendance.
The training, the company also said focused more on the drivers to help them to reduce accidents and carnages on Nigerian roads, as well as proper handling and maintenance of the trucks.
Dangote Cement is Africa’s leading cement producer with operations in 10 African countries, 24, 000 employees and revenues in excess of US$2 billion.
“We are a fully integrated quarry-to-customer producer with production capacity of up to 45.6 million tonnes per annum (Mta) across Africa,” the Group said on its website.
