Customs Appoints Two DCGs, 5 ACGs In Major Managerial Changes

The Nigeria Customs Service Board, NCSB ,has confirmed the appointments of two Deputy Comptroller-Generals, DCGs   and five Assistant Comptroller  Generals, ACGs, for the Service .

This is even as the Board which held its 60th Regular meeting on Tuesday September, 10, also approved the  upgrade of the Service’s ICT unit to a full fledged Department, with a DCG in charge.

A statement issued on Wednesday ,September11 ,by the National Public   Relation Officer, NPRO, of the Nigeria Custom Service, NSC, Abdullahi Aliyu Maiwada, CSC, said the Comptroller General, CGC, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi while congratulating the newly confirmed Management Members, also charged them to double their efforts in carrying out the critical roles of revenue generation, trade facilitation and the suppression of smuggling activities .

The newly confirmed DCGs are O A Alajogun and K I Adeola .

IG Umar ,MM Tilley- Gyado ,BA Makinde ,OA Salefu and T Bomodi are the newly confirmed ACGs.

According to the statement, the appointments as made by NCSB, chaired by the Minister for Finance and Coordinating Minster of the Economy, Wale Edun, were in response to the statutory retirement of senior officers of the Service.

“The appointments are in full alignment with the Federal Character policy as outlined in section 14 (4) of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023.

In addition, the Board approved the resolution from its 59th Regular Meeting held on May 14,2024 to upgrade the ICT to a full- fledged department.

This Strategic upgrade is vital to the ongoing modernization efforts within the NCS .

Similarly ,DCG KI Adeola has been appointed as the substantive Deputy Comptroller-General ,in charge of the newly upgraded ICT -Modernization Department .

She will be supported by and Assistant Comptroller-General and five Comptrollers to ensure  the successful implementation of ICT initiatives aimed at enhancing the Service’s operational efficiency and digital transformation” part of the statement reads .
