The Anambra State Police Command on Friday, June 20, 2025, informed that plans are underway to hunt down perpetrators of a deadly cult related attack on the Oko in Orumba North ,local council of the state.
The Source reports that some suspected rival cultists had launched the attack on Thursday night at Total and Tipper Junctions, resulting in the death of two persons. Two others were abducted.
A statement from the State Police Command’s Spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, SP, said two others, including a middle aged woman, were rescued by operatives of the State’s Joint Security Team, following their swift intervention on the night.
According to Ikenga, the suspected cultists who stormed the area at about 9.00 pm, started shooting indiscriminately, with residents scampering for safety.
The heavily armed suspected cultists, according to the police, operated with a motorcycle, and a black Toyota Lexus SUV without a number Plate.
However, the prompt response from the Joint Security team, led by the Police Area Commander of Aguata, prevented the attack from spreading.
The Command while suing for calm, also, urged the members of the public to volunteer credible information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing hoodlums.
