The Kano State Judicial Service Commission on Friday September 20, 2024, announced various disciplinary actions against some of its Staff
Jamilu Ibrahim, a Court Registrar with the Sharia Court and his accomplices have been slammed with an indefinite suspension following their indictment in aiding and abetting the fraudulent procurement of a writ of possession that was used by some people to perfect illegal lands transactions.
A statement issued by the Commission’s spokesperson, Jibo Ibrahim said the decision followed the acceptance of the recommendation of an Investigative Committee into allegations of misconduct against Jamilu Ibrahim and his cohorts.
At its 75th General Meeting held on September 12, 2024, the Commission adopted the report of the panel which found Ibrahim and others guilty of the charges preferred against them.
According to the statement, Ibrahim and others were recommended for dismissal by the investigative committee. The Commission, however, opted for an indefinite suspension without pay, pending the outcome of the trial of the offenders by a Kano Magistrate Court.
Another of the accused staff, Zubairu Sulaiman, also a Registrar with the Sharia Court, who was discovered to have benefited to the tune of one million Naira from the illegal land transaction was slammed with a four month suspension.
The statement further assured of the commitment of the Commission to protecting the integrity and accountability of the judiciary.
“The Commission remains resolute in applying appropriate sanctions against any erring staff ,particularly, those entrusted with judicial responsibilities to safeguard the integrity and accountability of the judiciary and uphold public confidence”, the statement noted.
