A possible mistaken identity of a corpse at the Ondo State Teaching Hospital morgue is unsettling two families in the State.
Already, Osi community in Akure North Local Government Area, the supposed owner of the dead body and Oba-Akoko in the Southwest, where funeral rites were billed to commence for the corpse are confused and disturbed by the development.
The corpse was deposited at the State UNIMED Teaching Hospital, but when the family of the late Mrs Olajumoke Julianah Ogunsuyi went to pick her remains on Friday for Christian wake keep, it had disappeared from the hospital’s mortuary.
Trouble started when the family members of Mrs Ogunsuyi got to the hospital Friday morning to carry the body for burial ceremony, but after waiting for several hours, it was discovered that her body was missing at the morgue.
It was gathered from a family source that mortuary attendants and hospital officials are currently facing Police investigation as it was discovered that the body of Mrs Ogunsuyi had been released to another family at Oba Akoko.
According to burial arrangements, Mrs Ogunsuyi’s lying-in-state, Christian wake and other ceremony supposed to hold on Friday August 4 and Saturday at her residence in Osi in Akure North council area.
Mrs Olajumoke died at the age of 63. The development, it was learnt, has caused apprehension at Oba-Akoko.
