The deadly Pandemic, Covid-19, has again taken a toll on Nigeria. This time, it is on prospective Corps Members across the country.
The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Corps (NYSC), early Wednesday, shut down all orientation camps nationwide over fears of the coronavirus.
The Batch A corps members began their orientation on 10th March, and were expected to be in their camps for 21 days, meaning they were expected to leave Camp on 31st March, 2020.
But information gathered by this magazine revealed that they will be getting their letters of posting to their places of primary assignment, just one week after camping.
It would be recalled that the coronavirus has so far killed over 7000 persons globally and eleven cases have been confirmed in Nigeria, although no death has been recorded.
Corps members in the camps were, however, shocked when they were told in the middle of the night that the camps have closed and they were all to receive their letters to places of primary assignment.
The corps members said they were informed that the development was due to the coronavirus crisis.
The Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, said it was necessary to release the Corps Members to go to their respective homes due to the outbreak of the disease.
