The English Football Association has postponed the rescheduled fixture between Arsenal Football Club and Manchester City Football Club at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England.
Reason for the postponement was as a result of the Olympiacos owner, Evangelos Marinakis, who a few days ago, tested positive to Covid-19.
There has, however, been serious medical advice, and individuals who had what the guidelines define as close contact with him at the game, 13 days ago, are traced. Premier League reports that during the Europa League fixture between Arsenal and Olympiakos some players met the Olympiacos owner immediately after the game.
The medical advice received puts them on risk of contacting Covid-19 at extremely low level.
However, people are strictly following the Government guidelines which recommend that anyone coming into close contact with someone with the virus should be isolated at home for 14 days from the last time they had contact.
The thesourceng.com gathered that the players will not be available for tonight’s match against Manchester City and the Premier League planned that the game should be postponed.
The players that had contact with the President will remain at their homes until the 14-day period expires.
Four Arsenal staff sitting close to Marinakis during the match, will also remain at home until the 14 days are over.
Arsenal expressed disappointment to fans, particularly those who were travelling to Manchester to see the night’s match.
According to the club, tickets will be valid for the match when it’s rearranged.
As a further precautionary measure, any other Arsenal guests or staff in the directors box restaurant, who had contact with him would be made to follow the relevant advice if there has been any such contact.
Meanwhile, Arsenal Football Club wishes Marinakis a quick recovery and the club looks forward to players and staff returning to work on Friday in preparation for Brighton’s Hove Albion Football Club match this weekend.
In another development, British Health Minister, Nadine Dorries, has tested positive to the Covid-19 virus.
