Controversy Over Looters’ List

The APC led federal government, in a bid to shore up confidence in their cardinal program of fighting corruption has released some names of alleged looters who have looted money from the country’s treasury.  The earlier list, which the Minister of information, Lai Mohamed, insisted is only a teaser, generated outcry of arbitrary sectionalism of the list.

It will be recalled that the corruption fighting government has never had any convicted person under the corruption fight, though almost all were tried and found guilty in the media.

With the release of the list, questions arose as to why one of their celebrated media trial victims, Diezani Allison Madueke, did not appear in the list. Olisa Metu, the embattled former spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who has been under trial under bizarre circumstances, found his voice and went to the press and declared Federal government action prejudicial to his case.

The PDP lapped on the issue and noted that the list is only that of members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as if there is nobody corrupt in the ruling APC. They then went ahead to list all former PDP members-governors and legislators who are corrupt, as well as government officials of the ruling party who are allegedly looters. One of them Mallam Abba Kyari, was in the entourage of the President during his visit to Lagos.

The second batch of Lai Mohammed list eventually listed Allison Maduake-apparently in response to outcry- and former Aviation Minister, Stella Odua. Odua, in her twitter account, mocked the Apc led government reminding them that they omitted the money said to be hidden with her housemaid, which was later proved to be mere fabrication.

It is noteworthy that the central government have, instead of showcasing what they achieved within three years, lapsed back to the discredited blame game. There has even been a challenge by some individuals offering cash reward for any one who could name a project initiated and completed by the Federal government within the last three years. No body has been able to successfully name one.
