Coalition: How Can Expired, Greedy And Frustrated Politicians Be Fighting For The People? – Wike

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Minister, Nyesom Wike, again on Friday, July 4, 2025, took a swipe at the key figures behind the recently unveiled Coalition platform, African Democratic party ADC, including its Interim spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, describing  them as expired politicians in a doomed and desperate mission to reinvent themselves.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, Wike attributed the sudden downturn in the fortune of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the unbridled and inordinate greed and desperation for power by individuals like Abdullahi.

The FCT Minister’s latest outing is coming against the backdrop of the ADC spokesperson’s scathing criticism of Wike’s fixation with the unending plot to kill and bury PDP just to satisfy his pay masters .

The interim ADC National Publicity Secretary and former Minister of Youths and Sports under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, in his remarks after the unveiling of the Coalition platform on Wednesday, berated Wike for spearheading the internal treachery that sold the once political behemouth PDP to the All Progressive Congress-led President Bola Tinubu’s Federal Government.

But reacting on Friday, the immediate past Governor of Rivers State insisted that all the opposition political forces that have adopted the ADC’ as a veritable platform to unseat President Tinubu in 2027 are a  bunch of players only driven by desperation for personal ambitions.

According to him, the Coalition’s progenitors are not in anyway interested in the wellbeing of both Nigeria and Nigerians .

The FCT Minister particularly questioned the political pedigree of the ADC”s spokesperson, alleging that since after leaving PDP in 2014 ,he has never found his bearing ,more so having parted  ways with his mentor, Bukola Saraki.

Wike noted that for Abdullahi to fail successively to clinch his party’s gubernatorial and Senatorial tickets from the time he left PDP to date speaks volume of his rejection by his people.

He, therefore, wondered how such a rejected and politically displaced person could now claim to be mobilizing Nigerians to unseat President Tinubu.

He rather insisted that the unending flirtatious attitude of Abdullahi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar contributed in no small measure to the nose-diving of the PDP fortune.

“As usual, in his deceitful manner, Abdullahi failed to mention that the political waka-about of himself and Atiku, his present emergency political leader, contributed to the misfortune of the PDP.

“Or is it not on record that it was the political treachery of Atiku that frustrated the collective efforts of the PDP members in Lagos State to win the State in 2003 ?.

“As a Minister in the Government of President Goodluck Jonathan,why did Abdullahi leave PDP for the APC then ? Was it because the Government he was part of failed ,and Nigerians were angry?

“As National Publicity Secretary of the APC ,did he leave the party in 2018 because of Wike or because he saw that his thirst for power could no longer be quenched in the party ?

“When in 2019, Abdullahi ran unsuccessfully.for nomination as the PDP Governorship candidate for Kwara state, was it because Nigerians were angry? Even in 2023 that he got the PDP Senatorial ticket, he still lost the election to his APC rival .

“If after serving as Special Assistant, Special Adviser, and Commissioner in Kwara State and as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria ,the peope of Kwara State could still not trust Abdullahi enough with the PDP mandate, it simply.means that he is a political liability ,and this reality he must face”.Wike stated.

The FCT Minister, therefore, cautioned Nigerians to be wary of the antics of Abdullahi and his co-travellers on the Coalition train who are only driven by sheer greed for power and relevance .

Wike maintained that the ranks of the so-called Coalition is heavily populated by frustrated politicians who want to return to power for selfish reasons .

Wike, particularly, questioned the claim by the promoters of the Coalition of being goaded not only by the need to get President Tinubu out of office,but also to save the country’s democracy.

” How can a gathering of people like Atiku Abubakar ,a serial decampee whose boss, President Olusegun Obasanjo described as patently corrupt ,Nasir El-Rufai ,the promoter of body bag politics, who as a Governor of Kaduna state was busy going on his bended knees to pay terrorists, hungry Rotimi Amaechi, under whom the judiciary in Rivers State was shut down for over one year, Dino Melaye ,who couldn’t vote for himself in his own election ,and other frustrated politicians be about saving democracy?,” Wike queried .

The FCT Minister, however, expressed the optimism that  the Coalition will fizzle out in less than no time ,as it was founded on deceit and treachery.
