The Presidential aircraft detailed to fly Vice President Kassim Shetima to the 2024 Commonwealth Heads of Government Summit, CHOGM, in Samoa, the capital of Apia has been damaged.
According to sources familiar with the issue, the incident happened after a foreign object hit his plane, damaged the cockpit windscreen of the plane.
As a result of the damage, Shetima, who was billed to fly from New York , United States will no longer represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the event.
The magazine had earlier reported that Shetima was leading the Federal government delegation to the summit in the island.
But, following the damage to the cockpit of the presidential aircraft, the vice president trip has been cancelled, and a new delegation has been detailed by President Tinubu to represent Nigeria at the summit.
Balarabe Abass Lawal, the Minister of Environment will not lead the federal government delegation to the event which also has in attendance King Charles of England, amongst other heads of government from the former British colonies.
The summit started on October 21 will end tomorrow, October 26.
