An alleged member of the Osun State All Progressives Congress, APC, Dolapo Gafar, popular as Governor Ifedolapo, has threatened Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, with thunder and brimstone. He said he would deal with not only the Governor, but his whole family, and even associates. By the time he finishes with Adeleke, he said, the Governor would run at the mere sight of Government House; the Governor would beg for death.
He did not hide himself. Or face. He did not tell anybody to tell Adeleke. He recorded it, in a video which was posted online.
For well over five minutes, he went on and on.
Adeleke’s offence? For daring to think of defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the APC.
Gafar said he wanted nothing from the Governor. Neither money, nor contract. The only thing that would save the Governor, he said, is to banish every, and any thought of defecting to the APC.
In the video made public by Osun Defender, Gafar who spoke in Yoruba, with a sprinkle of English said in part:
“I don’t need anything from your family, but I can tell you that if you decamp to the APC, within a week, you will get tired of life.”
And as if confirming that he and some people are responsible for any political problems the Governor might be going through, especially, since after the Local Council Election, Gafar added: “What we are showing you now is just a preamble.
“We will make life unbearable for you to the point that you will regret coming to the APC. Even those following you to the APC will regret doing so.
“We will frustrate you to the point that you will beg for death to take you. We will make you weep when you see the Government House. I don’t hide behind the keyboard. You’ve not seen anything.
“We will show you what they call pepper. I’m not talking on behalf of any leader or follower. Whoever wants to align with my idea is free. I’m just waiting to hear that you have decamped to the APC. We’ve set a trap for you. We will make life unbearable for you to the extent that your party members will seek death as an alternative.
“We will let you know that you are a nobody and I don’t have anything I want from you. The time I needed you, you behaved like an animal.”
Even though Governor Adeleke has issued no response, personally, Gafar, according to reports, has been arrested, and was arraigned before a Magistrate Court Tuesday morning.
His reported arrest and arraignment in Court followed a petition allegedly written by CSP Adefisoye Kazeem and Nurudeen Kareem, Special Adviser to the Governor on Legal matters.
A couple of weeks ago, speculations were strong that the Governor had completed arrangements to decamp from the PDP to the APC. But he has since distanced himself from that speculation and pledged his loyalty to the PDP. What he and the Osun State PDP decided, however, is that come 2027, they would stand solidly behind President Bola Tinubu’s reelection bid. As for him? He says he would run for the Governorship under the PDP. And would win.
