Professor Haruna Musa has been appointed as the 12th substantive Vice Chancellor of the Bayero University Kano BUK.
A statement on Thursday June 3, 2025, from the University’s spokesperson Lamara Garba, informed that Musa’s appointment which was contained in a letter from the Governing Council will, however, take effect from August 18, 2025
His appointment was ratified by the University’s Governing Council at a meeting held on Thursday June 3,2025.
“The Governing Council of Bayero University Kano, exercising its authority under section 4 of the Universities ( Miscellaneous Provisions) Amendment Act ,2003 ,at its meeting held on Thursday July 3rd, 2025 considered the recommendations of the Selection Board and hereby approves your appointment as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, for a single tenure of five (5 years )with effect from 18th August 2025”, the appointment letter reads in party.
Until his appointment ,Musa a Prof in the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry, was the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics).
He joined the services of the University in 1993 as a Graduate Assistant,from where he rose to the Professorial level in 2019.
Born June 20,1967, Prof Musa hails from the Dambatta Local Council of Kano State.
While congratulating him on his emergence, the Chairman of the Institution’s Governing Council and the All Progressive Congress, APC, Gubernatorial Candidate for Kano State, Dr Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, expressed the confidence that Prof Musa will bring his vast experience to bear in the management of the University.
