President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the management boards of two maritime agencies, the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA and Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA.
Recall that the president replaced Dakuku Peterside with Bashir Jamo, last week as new NIMASA director general.
Bashir officially took over yesterday from Peterside whose tenure ended on March 10.
The president however, retained Hadiza Bala Usman as the managing director of NPA.
In a statement released on Tuesday by Sabiu Zakari, permanent secretary, ministry of transportation, the president appointed Okorie Asita as chairman of the Governing Board of NIMASA.
Other members of the governing board include Victor Ochei, Executive Director (Cabotage); Chudi Offordile, Executive Director (Admin & Finance); Shehu Ahmed, Executive Director (Operations); Adekola Adefemi, Muhammed Abubakar, and Hassan Mahmud, as Members of NIMASA board respectively.
For the NPA the new board appointees are Akin Ricketts, Chairman; Muhammed Koko, Executive Director; Prof. Idris Abdulkadir, Executive Director and Onari Brown, Executive Director.
Others are Ghazali Muhammed, Sen. John Akpanuoedehe, Sen. Binta Masi Garba, Alh. Mustapha Dutse and Abdulwahab Adeshina.
He however added that Hadiza Usman remained the Managing Director of the authority.
The minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi will inaugurate the boards of the two agencies on March 20, the ministry said in the statement.
