President Muhammadu Buhari returned to Nigeria after twenty days outside the Country on a “private visit” to London after performing the lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia, barely beating the constitutionally mandated 21 days beyond which he ought to have handed over to his vice, Yomi Osinbajo.
The President left the country on October 27.
His Aircraft was said to have touched down the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 9.45 pm Friday. On hand to receive him were the Chief of Army, Tukur Buratai, Chief of Police Muhammed Adamu, and Chief of staff Aba Kyari.
His return was a day to crucial governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states.
While in London, Nigerians in London protested his presence, asking him to “go back home and fix Nigeria”. Even though the presidency claims he is there on a private visit, there were criticisms of his performing official functions in a foreign land. Apart from signing the PSC bill in London, he was also holding courts and meetings, which can be described as official duties.
He has been issuing official statements and giving directives from London.
