The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Governor Adedapo Abiodun of Ogun State.
The apex court also returned Sheriff Oborevwori as the governor of Delta state as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The elections of the two governors had earlier been affirmed by the Court of Appeal, but the verdicts of the appellate court were challenged by their opponents at the nation’s apex court.
While Oladipupo Adebutu challenged the victory of Governor Abiodun, Oborevwori’s election was challenged by Kennedy Pela, the candidate of the labour party, LP, in the March 18, 2023, governorship election.
Ruling on the appeals on Friday, Justice Tijjani Abubkar leading  five-member panel of the court, in a unanimous judgment dismissed the appeal of Adebutu’s, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the election.
Also ruling in the Oborevwor’s case, the Justice Uwani Abba-Aji-panel held in the lead judgment, that the appellants failed to prove their case as required.
Justice Abba- dismissed the appeal for lacking in merit.
