Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu has ben arrested. The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami disclosed this on Tuesday, to journalists in Abuja.
The IPOB leader was undergoing trial before he jumped bail, few years ago and has been living in exile since then.
Malami said Kanu’s arrest is a collaborative effort between security agencies in Nigeria and the Interpol.
The trial of the IPOB leader will now continue, Malami said, adding that he will be tried for terrorism, treasonable felony and unlawful possession of firearms.
Meanwhile, Kanu has been arraigned before an Abuja High Court under tight security, as many Nigerians insist that the trial of the IPOB leader will further aggravate insecurity in the South East where security forces have been battling IPOB and Eastern Security Network, ESN its militant arm.
