It is basically the season of fire outbreak in the country.
Few days ago, the headquarters of the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, was gutted by fire. Now, the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Headquarters in Abuja, has been gutted by fire.
Affected in the fire on Friday was the Media Centre..
The INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, confirmed the fire incident to pressmen.
He said, “Yes, it’s true, there was a fire. I’m going to the office to find out what happened. I will get back to you.”
The cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained. The INEC building was still on fire at the time of this report.
It would be recalled that less than two weeks ago, the office of the Accountant General of the Federation was also gutted by fire, likewise major markets in Ile Ife, Osun State and the popular market in Ibadan, Oyo State.
