To try and stem the skyrocket in prices of food items and other essential commodities, the Federal Government has began the sealing of stores and shops and warehouses which it suspects engage in fixing of prices and hoarding
Nigerians have been grappling with the very high cost of living, especially, in the past couple of months, which has resulted in hunger and anger.
The masses, in a number of States, have taken to the streets to protest the unpleasant high cost of living. Not a few families are going to bed hungry, sparking fears there could be a revolution over the hunger in the land.
The Federal Government, in reaction, has been making frantic efforts to stem the situation by releasing grains and other palliatives. It, also, suspects sabotage and has warned it would deal decisively with those allegedly hoarding food items and other essential commodities as well as fixing prices.
On Friday, February 16, 2024, the Federal Competition and Condumer Protection Commission set to work in Abuja.
It sealed the Head Office of Sahad Stores Ltd located at Garki Abuja over, alleged, price fixing.
More Stores have, allegedly, been lined -up for same treatment.
