Breaking: Chadian President, Derby, Killed |The Source

Chadian President, Idris Derby, is dead.

He was killed in the frontline during a battle with terrorists who have been tormenting his country.

Idris was fond of leading Chadian troops to battle. Once,  he had reportedly led them across Nigeria’s territory  in pursuit of Boko Haram and ISIS terrorists. There were also rebel troops of Front for Change and Concord in Chad, FACT. He died Tuesday of gunshot injuries he sustained  in battle with the terrorists.

The Chadian Army has confirmed the President’s death.

Its spokesperson, Azem Agouna said in a broadcast on Tuesday, that the President died on the battle field  defending the sovereignty of the Nation.

Incidentally, President Derby’s death came a day after he won the Presidential election for the 6th time. The election,  adjudged controversial, was boycotted by opposition parties.

Derby was one of the longest serving President’s in the country, having been in office for 30 years.

He was billed to give a victory speech on Tuesday, but chose to go to battle alongside his troops.

Derby was aged 68 years.
