Former Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Mohammed Adoke, has been granted bail.
He worked into his house less than an hour ago.
Arraigned today, Monday, on another charge of alleged money laundering, Adoke’s Counsels had asked the presiding Judge to grant him bail on liberal terms or, on the contrary, remand him at the Kuje Correctional Centre, instead of the cell of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, where he has been under remand since he was arrested.
During his earlier arraignment in another court, Adoke was, also, granted bail, but was kept at the EFCC cell.
It will be recalled that Adoke had voluntarily returned to the country from Dubai after his initial arrest and detention by the INTERPOL, on the request of the EFCC. On his voluntary return, the EFCC arrested him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Until his release on bail today, he has been with the EFCC. He was brought to the court Monday from the Federal Medical Centre, Kuje, where he was rushed to a few days ago, over his failing health.
Adoke, along with others, is being prosecuted by the EFCC over alleged infractions in the Malabu Oil Well controversy. He vehemently denies any wrong doing.
…Details, later.
