Contrary to allegation peddled by Blogger and Social Media Influencer, Vincent Martin Otse, popularly known as TheVeryDarkMan, that Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye also known as Bobrisky spent his Six Month Jail Term at an Apartment close to the Correctional Facility in Lagos has been debunked by the investigative panel tasked with probing allegations that convicted cross-dresser was kept out of the custodial center.

The panel, however, confirmed that Bobrisky received certain privileges during his time behind bars.

Uju Agomoh, Executive Director and founder of Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action, PRAWA, who is a member of the panel, stated that there was no evidence to support the accusation that Bobrisky stayed outside the prison during his sentence, which lasted from April 12, 2024, to August 5, 2024.

“The panel did not find any evidence thus far that suggested Mr. Okuneye slept outside the custodial center during the period of his imprisonment,” Agomoh said.

She clarified that Bobrisky served his six-month correctional sentence with the usual remission applicable to such cases.

It would be recalled that anti graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, charged Bobrisky  to Court for Abusing the Naira and was  sentenced to Six-Month Jail Term By the Court.

Following his release after serving his Jail Term, a voice note surfaced where  Bobrisky, allegedly, admitted he bribed Officers at the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, in order to enjoy certain privileges, including staying at an Apartment close to the Correctional Facility courtesy of his godfather and the Controller General of prisons.

The leaked audio also saw Bobrisky claiming he bribed Officers of the EFCC with the sum of N15 million to drop the money laundering charges against him.

The allegations generated controversy, prompting the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to call for a thorough investigation into the case. Two officers of the NCoS were also suspended.

Ola Olukayode, EFCC Chairman also called for an immediate investigation into the matter.
