The Progressives Governors Forum, (PGF) has distanced itself from the plight of the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu.
The Forum maintained that only President Bola Tinubu could determine the fate of the Minister following allegations of fraud against her.
Speaking on Thursday, PGF said only President Bola Tinubu will take a final decision on the matter.
The President had, on Monday, suspended Edu over her alleged involvement in a N585 million fraud.
A leaked memo indicated that she recently approved the payment of N585 million social intervention funds into the private account of a civil servant.
Against this backdrop, Tinubu directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to probe the allegation.
Reacting, the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, urged Nigerians not to hurriedly conclude that Edu is guilty of the corruption allegations against her.
Uzodinma said Nigerians should wait till the end of the ongoing investigations before drawing a conclusion on Edu.
He spoke while addressing journalists after a meeting of the Forum in Abuja.
“And in the wisdom of the President, she is being investigated. It is after the investigation is concluded and the report made available to the Government that it will take a final decision.”
