Few minutes ago, Senator Douye Diri was sworn in as the governor of Bayelsa.

The development has put a lie to the hasty boast of the  national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC Adams Oshiomhole, yesterday that he will not become the governor.

But Oshiomhole doesn’t seem to be done yet in his quest to reverse the decision of the supreme Court that returned Senator Diri as governor.

Still angry that the candidate of his party lost in the court, Oshiomhole has declared a total war on Governor Diri.

Hear him “The PDP has just crossed one river, there are several other rivers to cross.”

The supreme court, yesterday nullified the election of APC candidate, David Lyon and affirmed Diri duly elected as governor of the oil rich state.

The APC has not been happy since a five man panel led by Justice Mary Odili reversed Lyon victory and gave same to Diri.

Initially, Oshiomhole vouched that no governor will be sworn in, raising ambiguity on the decision of the apex court’s decision to sack his party candidate.

The APC chairman also warned INEC not to award certificate of return to Diri, because, as he claimed, the senator did not secure one fourth or two third of lawful votes cast in the November, 2019 election.

Shockingly to Oshiomhole, Chairman of INEC, Professor Mohammed Yakubu, on Friday in Abuja obeyed the supreme Court and declared Diri governor, in an elaborate ceremony, where the certificate of return was also awarded to the Diri.

Diri has now been sworn in by the state chief judge in Yenagoa, the state’s capital.

Many Nigerians are expecting what line of action Oshiomhole and his party will take next.
